Valerie Bowman grew up as an Army brat living in and savoring many foreign cultures. When her father retired, her family settled in Virginia where she met her husband, Bill. They started a construction business in 1970 where Valerie handled finances, did design work, and project managed the remodeling of kitchen and bath projects. She has two sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law, and six lively grandchildren. Valerie currently serves on the staff and board of directors for AFM whose mission is to reach the largest unreached people groups in the world. She travels to Turkey several times a year to share the gospel with the unreached Zazas. She enjoys spending time with Nepali families who have found refuge in this country and serving international students studying at VCU.
